About the event
OKC Beautiful's Sustainability Social Hour is for those who love the environment and our city. Each session is centered around networking with those who have a passion for and want to learn more about environmental stewardship topics.
Each session features a conversational Q&A with a guest speaker. September features Marcus Long, Urban Soil Health Specialist of the Oklahoma Conservation Commission.
Originally from Ardmore, Oklahoma, Marcus pursued an education at East Central University in Ada, where he studied Environmental Health Science. His education at ECU sharpened and built knowledge in subjects such as microbiology, watershed management, and botany. From there, he carved out a career in land management and horticulture. Marcus works with the Oklahoma Conservation Commission as an urban soil health specialist, where he collaborates with urban communities to integrate conservation principles into landscapes of all sizes. Additionally, he partners with farmers in
proximity to urban centers to help enhance local food systems.
The event includes a mix and mingle portion from 5:00- 5:30, then kicks off the one-hour Q&A session.
All ages are welcome! You do not have to be 21+ to attend.
Sustainability Social Hour is every second Wednesday of the month. Location changes each month. Visit www.okcbeautiful.com/sustainability-social-hour to learn more.
